<i>In Situ </i>Photopolymerization of Functionalized Polyacrylamide-Based Preconcentrators for Highly Sensitive Specific Detection of Various Analytes by Microchip Electrophoresis

Microchip electrophoresis (ME) has emerged as a promising tool for rapid analysis of various sample types and it is one the most important modules miniaturized total systems. Electrokinetic effects provide both efficient transport separation components in microfluidic channels. Moreover, miniaturization devices drastically reduces reagent consumption, significantly decreases time, allows easier parallel screening automation. However, systems are insensitive, which serious problem. In order to increase sensitivity ME, several on-line pretreatment applications such specific non-specific preconcentration, extraction, derivatization have been proposed. Here, we review preconcentration methods utilizing situ photopolymerized polyacrylamide-based preconcentrator gels. These techniques allowed highly sensitive detection by ME.
